Gold medal for sailing conditions on 5th day

At the beginning of one of the most important days of the Delta Lloyd Regatta, the sailing conditions are great. With 18 to 22 knots of wind the weather wins the gold medal today.

This morning the RS:X M started first at 10.10, the Laser started twenty minutes later at 10.33. All went wel, no problems at the starts and no black flags at all. The best way to start this very important 5th day of the regatta. Today it’s the last change for the sailors to qualify for the Medal races tonight and tomorrow.

Race officer Marinus Blickman expects all the races will start today on time and there’s no need to worry about the weather. “In the worst case, the 470 and Star medal races tonight will be postponed till tomorrow, but I totally assume everything will be on schedule today. It would be nice if the sun is going to shine, the sailors and visitors in Medemblik deserve a happy day!”

Committee Sneek of the Orange race course will lead the Medal races tonight. The 470 men will race the Medals at 6pm, 470 women will follow at 18.40 and the last race will start at 19.20 with the Star class.
