Except for the sailors on the water, there is nobody outside at the Delta Lloyd Regatta area. It is obviously silent, only the sound of the blowing wind is nearby. The people have spread over the several areas with the live streaming screens. The restaurant, the Regatta Office and mostly the Arma Rental Sailors Home are very popular.
Visitors and Regatta participants are fully focused on the Medal Races. In the Sailors Home everyone looks straight forward en waits for the results. Only the bartenders are talking. Bartel van der Heul, one of the two bartenders regrets the lack of beers and other drinks. “The most of them are athletes, so they do not drink that much, but the atmosphere is good. With good results people are clapping. Everyone is looking tense at the live streaming. At 6pm the live streaming and tracking & tracing was broadcasted in the Sailors Home and from then on everyone was comming inside.”
Standing in the back is Basjan, brother of Dutch 470 Medal racer Lobke Berkhout. Together with his girlfriend Eva he is watching his sister sailing. “I think we are the only two with a glass of wine. The others are too busy with concentrating on what is going on at the water. We enjoy watching the race. The videos are wonderful. Great camera work and it’s exciting to see Lobke live sailing.”
