On Thursday the 24th of May the following classes will start with their first race; Finn, Laser Radial, 470 and 49′er.

New this year is the possibility to follow all races live in 2D and 3D. At the end of each day, a 3D replay will also be available to watch.

Children from the neighborhood can attend sail clinics on Wednesday and Friday afternoon for free. The entire Saturday will also be available for children to experience sailing in an optimist dinghy. Everyone who comes to the Regatta Center Medemblik for the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta can also experience what it’s like to actually walk on water. The famous AquaBubbles are available to secure joy for everyone.

Together with the Delta Lloyd Tower, these activities form a great opportunity to enjoy the Delta Lloyd Regatta in the best way possible. The Delta Lloyd Regatta will start in just two and a half weeks, from May 22^nd till May 26^th. We hope to see you there!

Delta Lloyd Sounds is a concert and is all about entertainment. The concert will be exclusively accessible for invites of Delta Lloyd and the sailors, coaches and employees of the Delta Lloyd Regatta. The City of Medemblik will get a limited number of tickets and will divide these among the citizens of Medemblik.

Delta Lloyd Sounds will host two of the best internationally known artists Holland has to offer. Ilse DeLange and VanVelzen will make Delta Lloyd Sounds a truly memorable closing of the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta.

Delta Lloyd Sounds will also host the medal ceremony for the Delta Lloyd Regatta. Next to that, it will also be an official moment to say goodbye to the Delta Lloyd Kernploeg on their way to the 2012 Olympic Games.

The entire week during the Delta Lloyd Regatta will be used to introduce sailing to all primary schools in Medemblik. Children will attend sail clinics organized by the City of Medemblik and the Organizing Committee of the Delta Lloyd Regatta. These sailing clinics will be executed by the Central Institute of Sports Instructors from Heerenveen.

Just like the Delta Lloyd Regatta, Medemblik Nautiek has a spectacular closing day on Saturday May 26^th. With open sail clinics for all children from the Medemblik area and live on stage children from a near high school, the Saturday during the Delta Lloyd Regatta will be used for pure talent. The stage, which is called Medemblik Sounds Young, will also host performances by a big band and the star of the Dutch television show The Voice Kids.

On the Saturday, citizens of Medemblik have the opportunity to travel with tour boat De Fortuna between the Regatta Center and East Harbour where al Medemblik Nautiek activities take place. A sailing simulator on shore and the popular Aqua Bubbles make Medemblik Nautiek 2012 refreshed.

The Organizing Committee of the Delta Lloyd Regatta is proud to team up with such a prestigious partner like Swiss Timing. Last year’s edition of the Delta Lloyd Regatta you could follow the Medal Races via live Tracking & Tracing. This year you have the opportunity to follow all races live through live 2D and 3D GPS Tracking & Tracing. These live streams will be available at www.deltalloydregatta.org during the entire event.

In addition to this live Tracking & Tracing system, all boats, ships and objects like buoys, jury and rescue boats will have a GPS transmitter. This creates a local network of each race track on its own. Wireless Internet throughout the entire Delta Lloyd Regatta, including all starting ships, makes it possible to communicate more direct. The starting ships can now communicate directly with the race management center. The Organizing Committee is glad to facilitate a stable internet connection on all starting ships at the Delta Lloyd Regatta 2012.

Herewith the Delta Lloyd Regatta provides a next step in order to making sailing more attractive for its public.

The RZV is also an innovative sailing club. The RZV was the first to bring a so called ‘wind direction boat’ to the Delta Lloyd Regatta. This boat gave the sailors the right wind direction at any given moment. This resulted in an always perfect starting line. Many sailing clubs followed the good example of the RZV in the years that followed.

The RZV is proud to be part of the Delta Lloyd Regatta and is also proud to see its members perform at such a high level. Of course the RZV will be present at the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta which will be held from May 22^nd until May 26^th.

The ISAF Sailing World Cup Delta Lloyd Regatta, which will be held from May 22nd until May 26th in Medemblik, The Netherlands, has a world premiere for Olympic sailing.

Sailors are in a tough situation where they have to make certain choices on which sailing events they wish to attend. Next to all preparations for the 2012 Olympic Games, multiple ISAF Sailing World Cups and World Championships are planned in a short range of time. This results in too much pressure on the preparation program of the sailors towards the Olympic Games.

In consultation with the sailors and their coaches, the Royal Dutch Yachting Union and the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) there has been decided to adjust the fixtures and schedule for a number of classes. This will fit the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta better in the preparation program of the sailors. The Organizing Committee introduces a new more compact race schedule which makes sailing for the audience and media a lot more accessible and attractive.

In practical terms this means a Regatta of three days instead of five for the following classes: Laser Radial, 470 Men and Women, 49’er and Finn with more races on one day and on a shorter track. The following changes have been made to the schedule;

1. The Laser Radial, 470 Men and Women, 49’er and Finn class will sail over three (3) days instead of five (5). These classes start on Thursday 24^th of May and Friday 25^th of May with four (4) races each day. On Saturday 26^th of May one (1) race will be held in the morning and one (1) Medal Race will be held in the afternoon.
2.  All races in these classes will be sailed over a shorter track with a target time of 30 to 35 minutes each per race. 
3. The 470 Men and Women will sail together in one start.
4. In addition to these changes, the terms of payment will be modified.
5. All other classes, Laser, Star, 2.4MR, RS:X Men and Women and Sonar, will remain in original fixtures over five (5)   days. Starting on Tuesday 22^nd of May, and finishing with a Medal Race on Saturday 26^th of May.
